 2024 MOW

Combined Community Action, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing services since March 1966 to help change lives and assist people in our communities. The following are programs that are available at our agency, as funds allow on a case-by-case basis. Please visit the program page directly to learn more.

Meals On Wheels Rural Capital Area

The Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area powered by Combined Community Action Senior Nutrition Program serves hot, noon meals to persons who are 60 years of age and older and their spouses in a congregate setting and to the homebound in a six-county area.

Twenty-three sites work to serve 6 counties in total: Volunteers deliver most home-delivered meals. Only about 1% are delivered by staff. The program receives funds from the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities (DADS). These are federal funds from the Department of Health and Human Services. Other funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, local county and city governments, United Way of Hays County, Sponsor A Senior Program, civic organizations, churches, businesses, individuals, and the clients themselves.

Eligibility:

For congregate meals - Persons must be 60 years of age or older, or the spouse (regardless of age) or an eligible client. Disabled persons under 60, who lives with an eligible client, or lives in within the housing authority we serve, may come to the site with the client and eat.

For home delivered meals - Persons must be 60 years of age or older and be home bound (unable to drive) and be unable to leave home without assistance and not have help in the home with cooking of noon meals. Disabled persons under 60 who are on Medicaid may be eligible to receive meals.

Cost of Meals:

The cost of a meal is a voluntary donation of $2.00. If a person is unable to give the full contribution, they may give what they can afford and will not be denied a meal. All meals are cooked and prepared by Valley Services inc. in Austin, Texas.  Hot food is transported in insulated food containers by company vans to the 20 sites:

For eligibility and availability, please call Noelia Buck, Senior Nutrition Program Director at (800) 333-6325 or (979)540-2980.
