In Loving Memory of Margaret Janak

Margaret Mary Janak of Flatonia (1932-2016) was born in Port Lavaca, TX. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and was still serving as President of the K.J.Z.T. She retired from Smith Farms/Cal Maine Foods after 35 years of accounting and worked 11 more years for the Combined Community Action serving meals to the citizens of Flatonia.

She is survived by her four children, Larry Janak of Flatonia, Sharon Schultz and husband Larry of Cistern, Quentin Janak and wife Marlene of Flatonia, and Jennifer Vinklarek and husband Gary of Cistern. She has eleven grandchildren, one step-grandchild, eleven great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her surviving brother is Daniel Kana and wife Gladys of San Antonio. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Janak, her parents August and Mary Doubrava Kana, and one brother Johnnie Kana. Margaret had the greatest love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her kind, loving, and gentle soul will live on in her family and in all those who knew and loved her.

 

Margaret worked for many years with Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area serving the seniors of Flatonia, and is so fondly remembered by all. The words used to describe her by the people she worked with included words like kindness, caring, wonderful, sweet and giving. She is fondly remembered for always having a sparkle in her eye and what a great way to be remembered.
